April 2, 2024 - College Readiness Workshop

As part of the FLI HS Program, Future Institute will host an online College Readiness Workshop workshop on April 2 at 4:00 PM Central (5:00 PM Eastern). FLI HS participants from high schools in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio will attend the workshop.

Feeling overwhelmed about college? Join us in this workshop, where we'll equip you with the essential tools and strategies for success. Learn practical techniques for managing stress, time, and relationships, and gain insight into financial preparation for college. Our goal is to ensure you feel better prepared for navigating your college journey.

Bahar Baniasad

Bahar Baniasad has been an instructor and academic specialist at ACE at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) since 2012. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and Translation and a master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Westminster, UK. Her passion for student success and development has been specially nurtured while working closely with all UIC students, undergraduate students, graduate students, and students of professional studies. Bahar teaches Academic Skills Program (ASP) courses. Her other responsibilities include facilitating workshops focusing on academic skill development and meeting with students individually to assist them in time management, writing, and general study skills. In her free time, Bahar loves exploring the city of Chicago by attending concerts and cultural events, as well as traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and their dog, Oliver. Bahar is also fluent in Farsi.

Jennifer is a first-generation graduate from the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding a degree in Applied Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She has actively engaged with Chicago communities through her work with nonprofits during her time at UIC and post-graduation. As the first person in her family to attend college, she empathizes with the challenges many students encounter in navigating higher education. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys being outdoors and is a true crime and horror enthusiast!R
